July Box Reveal

DISCOVER OUR JULY BOX THEME : ISRAEL – a melting pot of cultures, languages and traditions, a country built on immigration with a pioneering spirit.
Just like the USA, Israel is a “melting pot” – a blending of cultures, faiths, hopes and aspirations which, when fully combined, resulted in a unique Israeli identity.
In 1948 Israel was a small sliver of land with a minuscule population struggling with the problems of daily survival. Seventy years on, it’s become home to a thriving, vibrant and extravert population. Its artists, writers, dancers and musicians have made an impact far beyond their number.
In Israel, in the early years of the state, the term melting pot, also known as “Ingathering of the Exiles”, was not a description of a process, but also an official governmental doctrine of assimilating the Jewish immigrants that originally came from varying cultures.
“The State of Israel will be open for Jewish immigration and the ingathering of exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel…”
Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel, 1948
Today, Jews from all over the world are moving to Israel and bringing with them their various cultural identities, but they are embracing and strengthening that which unites them as a nation – their Jewish faith and heritage.

The word hawaij (also spelled hawayij, hawayej, or hawaj) is pronounced “huh-why-adge” and it means “mixture” in Arabic. Two different versions of hawaij are staples in Yemeni kitchens and among Yemenite Jews in Israel. There is a savory hawaij for soups and stews and a second, more aromatic one for coffee and desserts.Finely Ground Coffee Beans For Filter Coffee by AgroCafe

The artist started by handpicking the flowers and dried them. Then she casted the flowers into resin and let it cure for about 24 hours. Afterwards a second coat of resin has been applied. Lastly, she hand sanded the base and assembled the ring.
